Hello.

I have vMix connected to an SRT endpoint via dns. After updating the dns so it resolves to a new ip (using TTL=30s) vMix continues to connect to the ip returned from the first name resolution. A ping of the endpoint from a command window (on the same machine running vMix) reveals Windows sees the new ip.

I suspect restarting vMix would force a new name resolution (though I haven't yet confirmed) but restarting is not an option for our use case. Ideally vMix would perform a new name resolution so it connects to the updated ip.

Is this the expected behavior?

Thank you
-Ben

Have you tried right-clicking in the small window for that input and selecting the "Reset" option?

Otherwise, delete the input and add it back (use the option to select it's input number so it will be the same). Remember to add back any triggers you had on that input.

I have not. I should have provided my info on our use case: the pc/client is unattended so manual intervention of any kind is not an option. We need the vMix client to reconnect to the new host automatically.

I thought about it a bit and realized that whatever network that SRT camera is on should be set up to give that SRT camera the SAME IP address every time and reserve it for the camera instead of letting it's ip address ever change. vMix is not a good tool for fixing a network configuration problem.

There is no network configuration problem.

Let's say I have a dns a-record somehost.somedomain.com configured to resolve to ip=11.22.33.44 with a ttl=30s. The first time vMix connects to somehost.somedomain.com it correctly resolves the name to 11.22.33.44 and connects without issue.

Some time later, and after somehost.somedomain.com is updated to ip=11.22.33.55, the remote end disconnects the srt session. When vMix automatically reconnects it still connects to 11.22.33.44 rather than 11.22.33.55.

A ping to somehost.somedomain.com from the same windows machine vMix is running on indicates an ip=11.22.33.55.
