Background:

Using the vMix Zoom plugin to capture screen sharing from a) a set of hosts that doesn't change, and b) a set of guests that change daily. At some point the inputs I created for the guests stopped working, and even though they showed the "sharing" tag, the input would just be black. If I created a new input to capture those guest screen share it would work fine, for a while. Then over time those new inputs would also fail.

Because I never had issues with the Host sharing inputs I suspected there was an issue being created when you assign a sharing input to someone, they leave the zoom, and you save and close the file. As a test I created some Companion automations that assign all of the guest sharing inputs to NONE at the end of our show, to wipe the slate clean. The show is saved almost every day after show end. Since I've started doing that, I do not see the issue appear. Coincidence is possible, but it feels like a good fix. Obviously you could manually set the inputs to NONE, instead of using Companion.

I often make daily adjustments to sound effects, the audio mix, on screen graphics, etc, and those changes need to be carried through daily. I think the better question would be, why is the problem occurring? Using a software feature (Save) should never bring about an issue in the software. I'm just hoping my post helps anyone that uses the Zoom plugin and maybe prevents them from running into the issue that I have.
