This has happened a few times now. We will launch vMix and the monitors are all mixed up.
No so much within Windows, but within vMix.
i.e. we are using Monitor 4 for out Output display, Monitor 3 for Multiview, and Monitor 2 for vMix app.
The main laptop screen (1) is used for Social Media management.

An example, this week when streaming with FULLSCREEN monitors enabled, I suddenly could not access the vMix app because the FullScreen output had move from Monitor 4 to Monitor 2. (I have since created a Companion button to toggle Full Screen so I can recover.(

The interesting thing is that Windows monitor positions are all normal. The mouse moves far left to far right jumping from Monitor to Monitor correctly.

Is there a possibility that an update changed something?

Charles

Regardless of the actual behavior in Windows, do the monitor numbers in Windows correspond to the monitor numbers in vMix?

I will have to check. This is now happening on a more regular basis, so I'm thinking it may be my USB-C to 2x HDMI outputs.

I did some checking today, and it appears to be vMix that is doing the changing the windows.
Windows Monitor Layout: Screen 3, Laptop (1), Screen 4, Screen 2
In vMix the Monitor are: Monitor4, Monitor 1, Monitor 2 and Monitor 3

Output, Full Screen is supposed to be Windows, Screen 2 (vMix #3)
Without warning, the Output Full screen jumps to Windows, Screen 3 (vMix 4)

The screen that keeps switching is connected to the HDMI out in the Laptop
The other 2 (besides the Laptop screen) are connected through USB-C dual HDMI adapter.

My thoughts (not validated) are that the monitor on Windows Screen 2 is glitching as it's connected to a 4-Way HDMI splitter to a few TV screens, not a dedicated monitors, causing vMix to find another screen to use for the Full Screen.

Any suggestions?

Sometimes i have this issue. My solution that works most times is to ensure that all monitors are open and connected before vmix opens and if i need to close them,i do it after vmix dissapears from task manager. Also i have read for a process some hdmi splitters and gpu (quadro i think and maybe RTX some of models) that is called EDID and this makes windows to "remember" the windows of every monitor. But i didnt try it
