Greetings all!

New member here. Not sure if this is the right place for this issue/question, so mods feel free to move if necessary.

We've been using vmix to livestream our Sunday morning service for a couple of years now, and I ran into an issue for the 1st time this morning.

From our sanctuary there are 2 wireless networks available for connection; Office & Guest. I always connect all of our devices to the Guest network - PC for PP output to vmix laptop, the laptop vmix resides on, and my ipad for remote control of vmix.

For the last 2 or 3 weeks I've been utilizing the Office network instead instead of the Guest network, since that's what my ipad always wants to connect by default to. Today, however, my ipad couldn't reach the 'server' connection for control. This of course occurred just minutes before the start of service, so not much time could be spent t-shooting. I did try re-booting my ipad a few times during the service thinking that's where the problem was, but was still never able to get connected.

After the service I started digging into settings on the ipad as well as the vmix settings on the laptop, and discovered that the IP address for remote connection in vmix had changed from .234 to .232. Made the appropriate change on my ipad and now I have remote control capability again.

My question is: What would/could have caused this? Nobody but me uses either of these devices, and I can guarantee I've not changed that info on either device. So, what gives? How did that connection info get changed?

Thanks for any/all possible answers, it is appreciated!

Vince

Hi Vince,

just guessing here, but if you changed the network your vMix PC was using, it probably also changed the IP address that the PC was assigned on the new network.

Just a guess.
