master output goes silent when inserting a usb memory drive - vMix continues normally but no sound comes thru speaker

Hi,
sometimes when I insert a flash drive to the laptop while working the vMix sound disappear from the speakers, even thought it continues to work normally, the VU meter shows signal and the recording is perfectly fine.

it also happens after locking & unlocking windows, when I return to my desk after a break

I suspect it's a windows audio driver issue (win 10) maybe


have any idea why?
