Just did a 4 camera shoot and the audio person has handed me an audio file.

Does anyone know to average latency for audio like what's the usual frame difference from video to audio?

Will I need to shift the audio from the WAV file given to me back X frames?

There is no fixed amount of videolag, it all depends on the source (usb, sdi, wifi,..) and the camera and the setup (converters,..)

You can check the amount of videolag with this website: http://tft.vanity.dk/inputlag.html

Just put this website on a screen and film it with a camera that u use. Put the camera next to your vmix screen and take a picture: now you know how much lag you have.

Thanks for that link. We use SDI runs of about 50m and also had an HDMI run of 20m. It all looked in sync video wise I guess one way of testing would be to plug a camera in via one of the SDI runs and simply do a clapper.

UPDATE: Just did a clapping test and it looks like the audio is a frame ahead of the video. I used a 15m HDMI lead and recorded the audio in with the video camera feed.

Allowing for 1 frame to = 40 millisconds do I simply set the delay on the audio to -40 and it should therefore record audio/video in almost perfect sync?
