Hi there!

We want to use Decklink 8K Pro to send Key and Fill signals to our ATEM switcher.

This guide here is straight-forward: https://www.vmix.com/help23/index.htm?KeyFill.html

The problem is that 8K Pro doesn't handle Connector Mappings the same way. Is there a waz to handle Decklink 8K Pro as our Output device? We do have another Decklink Duo on the shelf but were planning to use it for something else.

Best,

Jan

The 8k pro is a bit annoying in terms of connector mapping options.

You can do a key/fill output but it requires that the other 2 connectors be a key/fill input and since vMix doesn't use blackmagic's key/fill input feature it means you essentially only get 1 non-keyed input.

Select the first option (1 & 2 in, 3 & 4 out) and then attach your output cables to 3 & 4.

Here's a good reference: https://softron.zendesk....2-Duo-2-and-8K-Pro-cards

(I currently run a dual 8k pro system so feel free to ask any other questions).

Hi!

Thanks! We actually decided to just go with Duo 2.

But I actually have a question.

Are you feeding key/fill to ATEM? With our system it seems like the feed in ATEM is blown up from 420p, even though every device is set to 1080i50. It’s very pixelated and low quality. We tried both straight and premultiplied settings.

Thanks!

Unless you need 12G, the duo 2 is a more flexible card in terms of how you can configure the ports.

I'm running mine with a Ross Carbonite at 1080@59.94p. I've tested with an Atem before and didn't note anything strange but that was also 59.94p.

We solved it, it was just a bad cable running to the reference monitor.

And it really seems Duo fits better this situation.

Is it possible to run one EXT for key/fill and then use the other two SDI connectors for either capturing feed or even as EXT 2?

On a duo, yes.

You can set 1 pair of ports to be key/fill and the other 2 to be independent.
