In the audio mixer, there's a checkbox for automatic gain control. What exactly is that doing please?

Thanks Elvis - Google doesn't know how vMix works. I should have been more specific. What exactly is the automatic gain control checkbox doing in vMix?

Thanks Elvis - I mean, obviously AGC is a kind of feedback loop that adjusts the signal according to its level, making loud things quieter and quiet things louder. Maybe I should just leave it at that. You might not know the specifics of how it it actually implemented in vMix. And that's OK.
