I'm integrating vMix to the clock-8001 stage timer system and in doing so I came across a limitation of the current API. It seems to be impossible to get the total time of a VideoList type input, as no such time is provided and only the duration of currently selected playlist entry is relayed in the api.

People seem to use VideoLists as ad breaks etc and being able to show the total time remaining until the playlist/ad break is over would be really useful.

I would love to have list remaining time in the API, together with Streaming time.

That would help a lot in my work flow.

You can use a script to gather the runtime of each video in the list so having that script count down and display the remaining seconds in a giant GT element on a specific input so it would show in the list of inputs shouldn't be too had. You could even change the background color as a way of alerting when the countdown is active and when there's only a few seconds left.

Has someone ever written a code like that could share? That would be really helpful!

For me to get that information and display it in fullscreen for the customer, I am sending multiview out via NDI, adding this same NDI as a input and cropping that information to overlay in a custom layout for the customer on his reference monitor.
It is a terrible way, but I don't know any other :(
