Thanks: 1 times
hello im new to vmix and still learning, I wanted to know whether it is possible to record the Preview screen as well as the output screen separately.

screen 1 ( preview screen ) has desktop capture with the PPt annotations
screen 2 ( output screen ) has the subject.

11.png (733kb) downloaded 3 time(s).

I understand this might be a basic question but being a novice I'm not able to figure this out.

It's quite straightforward if you've got either 4K or Pro, which have two Record channels plus the MultiCorder. Not possible internally if you haven't.

Select Preview as the source for one of the 4 outputs (eg Output 3), then (if using the MultiCorder) tick the boxes in the settings for Output 1 (which defaults to the Program output) and Output 3 (which you have just set to Preview). Hit record (on the MultiCorder) and it will record those two screens. Or select those two "Outputs" for the two channels of the main Recorder, making sure you tick the box to enable the second channel as it's disabled by default.

If you have a lower edition you could assign the Preview to the Fullscreen output and use an external recorder with an HDMI input, alongside using the main/internal recorder for the Program output.
