vMix offers 8 base languages in addition to the original English. These additional languages were translated by Google Translate and are built into vMix.

It is possible to add new languages and modify existing languages in the languages folder in your vMix installation directory (typically C:\Program Files (x86)\vMix\languages). However, if modifying a base language file always have a copy saved elsewhere, because updating vMix will overwrite this.

This forum gives vMix users the opportunity to:
  • Share a new language translation
  • Improve on an existing language translation
  • Request a new/improved language translation from other vMix users
  • Download and use translations shared by vMix users

If you have any questions, please ask them here.

To share a new translation:
  1. Check to see if your language is already listed as a topic and if not, then
  2. Follow the guide here to create a new translation text file using the original English text file (typically located at C:\Program Files (x86)\vMix\languages)
  3. When complete, your file should be named as a two-letter code from the ISO 639-1 standard list here
  4. Create a new topic in this forum and write the Subject as the ISO language name listed here. For example: Azerbaijani
  5. Use any Description you like
  6. In the Message section, list the version of vMix your translation text file was created from (e.g. 25.0.0.31)
  7. Attach your language text file and then post

To improve an existing translation:
  1. Check to see if your language is listed as a Forum topic and if not, follow from step 2 above. If it is listed as a topic, then
  2. Prepare your improved translation text file following the guide here
  3. Post a reply in the topic of your chosen language
  4. In the message, explain any key improvements and list the version of vMix your translation text file was created from (e.g. 25.0.0.31)
  5. Attach your language text file and then post

To request a new/improved translation from other users
  1. Check to see if your language is already listed as a topic with a translation and if not, then
  2. In the ‘Request a translation’ topic, post a reply and ask for your desired language, using the language name listed here.

To download and use a translation:
  1. To use a translation, download a translation text file from a forum post
  2. Open the vMix languages folder (typically C:\Program Files (x86)\vMix\languages) and if the language you are adding is already listed here, then rename this listed file to something else such as OLDde.txt
  3. Copy the new translation text file to the vMix languages folder (typically C:\Program Files (x86)\vMix\languages)
  4. Restart vMix and under [Settings] > [Options], select your language. If it is not listed, ensure that the text file has a two-letter name from the ISO 639-1 standard list here
  5. If the translation is helpful to you, head back to the forum you found it in and hit the [Thank] button on the post.

Disclaimers:
  1. Translations uploaded by users are given freely for people to do with as they please
  2. If you are using an edited base language translation (English, Spanish, French, Korean, Portuguese, Chinese, Japanese, Russian, German) please note that when you update vMix your translation file will be overwritten, so always have a copy on hand to load in
  3. vMix is not liable for any incorrect translations and will not use these translations in future vMix releases
