Hi everyone, I've come across a strange anomaly which for the life of me cannot solve, however I'm hopeful that a kind vMixer could enlighten me to what I'm missing! So here is my conundrum. I've recently purchased 2x NDI-HX PTZ cameras, a pair of Lumens VC-50ND that send NDI-HX I first used them in anger during a livestream using my vMix laptop setup, connected by POE gigabit switch and using NDI, PEO and Control. Worked like a dream, super happy, no complaints - laptop specs below: - Intel Core i9 Eight-Core Processor i9-11900KF
32GB Corsair 2933MHz Ram NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 (mobile) - 16.0GB GDDR6 Video RAM 500GB Samsung 970 Evo Plus M.2 1TB Samsung 970 EVO PLUS M.2 2 x Thunderbolt 4 + 1 x USB 3.2 (TYPE C) + 3 x USB 3.2 2.5G Ethernet vMix Pro
THEN - I test the cameras again, but this time using my vMix Desktop Studio PC (specs below, but theoretically far superior). The cameras connect and behave fine, however as soon as I add the cameras to vMix (or NDI Studio monitor) my GPU usage in task manger goes up 25% per camera, so up to 50% for the 2 NDI-HX feeds. - Intel 10980XE 18 Core
64GB RAM 1TB + 4TB SSD 2.5G Ethernet Nvidia RTX 3090 Blackmagic Decklink Quad HDMI 4K. vMix Pro
I put my laptop into my studio network and added the same NDI-HX Cameras to vMix over the same network and there is no problem at all, but every time I add the NDI feed to a vMix production on my Desktop (Intel 10980xe - Nvidia 3090) It immediately shows increased GPU 3D usage in task manager. I've reloaded drivers, reloaded vMix and NDI tools to no solution. I did start to use GPU-Z and MSI Afterburner to read my GPU usage and it reported very differently. Task manager would show 50% (3D usage) and GPU-Z and MSI Afterburner would show around 5% GPU usage, which makes sense to me. I guess my question is, should I just ignore task manager GPU read out, or is my computer about to set on fire!? Thanks in advance, this forum has taught me everything I know about vMix!
