We use vMix for live streaming at our church, and we have developed a new problem. We have our desktop connected to the sound board via 3.5mm to dual 1/4" cable. When vMix is closed, everything works great. There's no extra noise, and the audio plays through the system just fine. However, when we open vMix, vMix shows high audio levels from the computer and creates a very loud high-pitched pulsing noise, and no audio from the computer will play correctly. This isn't a problem when we have the sound on the computer muted, but when we unmute it and try to play anything, all we get is deafening noise.

It sounds like you're creating a feedback loop.

The only reason vMix would be showing your computer's audio levels is if you're also sending your computer audio through vMix.

If you're sending vMix to your computer's output & your computer's output to vMix via the soundboard (or any other means), that's a definite way to cause the problem you're describing.

You don't ever want to route audio back on itself. That's not just vMix--it's everything where you're working with audio.

If you elaborate on what, specifically, your setup is & what, specifically, you're trying to do, I (or someone else) can help you do it without creating feedback.
