i mainly record in mpg but i am not satisfied by the quality. mp4 has better results. but mpg is reliable and fast in post edits.
mp4 is not as fault proof in case there is a power loss or something. it offers a save every x minutes option. but it would be great if there would be a manual restart option or button doing this manually.
this way the operator can seperate files on an item basis but in case he misses something or is too quick there is no gap in between recordings.
should be easy to implement since this is already in place, so just a manual trigger for that. stefan

+1
I guess one can do it already with a StopRecording shortcut that also triggers a StartRecording shortcut. But a dedicated button would be much better. Suggest "Split" button, that appears to the right of the Record button when recording.
