I can't seem to get Automatically Restart with Transition, for a video input, to work with any stingers. I restarted vMix and unchecked/rechecked the box in the General Properties.
AblockSettings.PNG (9kb) downloaded 1 time(s).

It's working fine with Cut and Fade, but every time I try and use any stinger, it doesn't restart the video from the beginning (I set the playhead to midway thru the video for testing when it's in the preview window). Even when cutting /fading the video back to the preview window it resets it to the beginning with Cut/Fade.

Any ideas? stumped on this one. I swear it was working before with stingers...but maybe not?

Not sure these would impact this particular oddity, but here are my stinger settings:

to follow up; I checked my output settings too, and the Auto Restart Output Input was turned on. I turned it off/back on and still a video input won't auto restart w/ a stinger.

Should work though

May i point out that your transition time is pretty long . 96 frames is more than 3 seconds (depending on framerate) of which halfway the video is already running , so what you see is more than 1.5 seconds past the starting point

Thanks Doggy, that particular transition is a longer one: I do have a 2 second buffer at the beginning of my clips...but I'm moving the playhead about 6o seconds into a video, and that's where it's starting when I test with a stinger. When I cut/fade it's going back to the very beginning. but for stingers, it's starting wherever I had the playhead set to in the preview.

Why would you change the playhead position in the first place ?
Also set a Mark In and Out point as that would indicate your intended starting point and effective video (new) starting point if change needed!

I was only moving the playhead further in to test. I'll always start it at the beginning. If I was showing someone a particular video in the preview window, and had forgotten to set it back to the beginning, and then used it in the live production, it would have started from wherever it was last set at (if I used a stinger), and that is what I was trying to troubleshoot. I also do have In/Outs set, at the head/tail of the videos.

I just had a look at this and I'm seeing the same (clips not restarting on a stinger but restarting on all other transitions) so it seems to be a bug/feature rather than something you have set wrong.

Might have something to do for using stingers with replays where one would intentionally quickly reposition the preview . There is only one person who would know for sure (intentional as my personal preference, or bug)

But there is a very simple workaround if you want to be sure the input (preview) restarts during the stinger transition:

Add a trigger to your stinger input : OnOverlayIn - Restart - Preview
thanks 1 user thanked doggy for this useful post.

Thanks so much Doggy! that's great!

I did learn from the support team today that indeed Auto Restart is not available when using stingers.

From the Support team:
"Stinger Transitions work a bit differently in that they transition immediately over the current output to the preview input. Unlike other transitions, this doesn't give videos enough time to restart before the transition begins. As a result, automatically restart is ignored."

Makes sense, thanks for the feedback

FYI I got that trigger to work, but I did have to change it to the actual input itself, not the preview (I'm assuming the auto restart is ignoring what's in the preview based on support's answer).
