When switching live a show, there are often times when I cut to a camera that is still moving into position. This Feature would allow for a simple key stroke on the keyboard that would mark where the mistake. When the footage is edited in post, it can easily be found. So far my process is to start a stop watch at the same time I start recording, and hit the lap button to more or less track where the mistake is. Thank you. carlos austin

When one uses the WriteDurationToRecordingLog shortcut function the current recording duration will be written to the recording log file with a optional tag text Value.

You can then find all these timestamps in the log file with their optional text values( between start and stop recording time tag)

Due to text option one can have multiple such tags depicting various situations ( triggered by multiple such shortcuts)

Thank you for your reply Doggy. Wondering if there is a video on YouTube that shows your method. I will look it up in the manual from vmix in the meantime. Thank you for you time. carlos

A video explaining how to press a button linked to the WriteDurationToRecordingLog function ?
Create the shortcut , press it during a recording a few times and open the log file to see the timestamps it created

https://www.vmix.com/hel...dex.htm?AddShortcut.html

of course one could use a script to write such marks to some other file too like here https://forums.vmix.com/...ng-for-Dummies#post81326

Does anyone know how to get a prompt for the operator to enter text for the text value that can be added to the log?

I don't know that you can, but you can create as many shortcuts as you need to provide as many pre-set values as you need.

Unless you have a wide variety of highly specific comments to add to your log, it's probably a lot more efficient to do it this way than having the operator write something on the fly anyway.

Like WaltG12 says or could have a (unused) title input with presets ( or linked to a datasource) and select the comment text from there. Might involve a few lines of scripting for the shortcut to get that specific text
