I'm just looking to build a new system that will be used for IMAG and am gathering info here.

What is everyone doing to reduce latency as much as possible? We would be looking to bring sources into vMix with NDI (BirdDog cameras, BirdDog converters). However on the output side, I'm trying to decide whether to design around outputting SDI (with AJA card), HDMI through main GPU card, or NDI. Can anyone compare the latency implications of each?

I know that latency in NDI converters and cameras needs to be accounted for, as well as display latency.

Best latency in my experience is using non-converted SDI inputs, and a GPU display output. A really fast computer can get you down to 2 frames end to end, ok for imag in some instances.

GPU outputs are the fastest. I've seen outputs via birddog decode (NDI) that were not slow as well. SDI output via a capture/playout card tend to result in higher render times, i'd stay away from that option.
