hello how can we mix or overlap two videos like in the example picture. does anyone know this?

change alpha channel on one of them and overlay on the other

For a temporary effect that's not very long I have done this by putting one in Preview, select "Fade" for effect and then use the mouse to move the slider far enough but not all the way across to where the temporary video shows as in the example and end the effect by sliding the slider back to not show the preview if the main video is to continue or finish moving the slider to switch the videos if the preview video is desired next.
