Access playlist items using scripts?

I would like to be able to use the terrific interface created for playlists but be able to access each item in the playlist using VB so I can treat PTZ presets differently than other than other inputs when they automatically go to Program. The details of each playlist are not stored in the API so perhaps this is not possible but that is what I am hoping to do.
