I've been learning vMix and have been learning very much thanks to these forums and the YouTube videos.
One thing I have not been able to get working is the audio.
I'm using a PC with a clean Windows 10 install.
For the camera, we have a Sony HDR-FX1 fed into a firewire card.
I've tried feeding my audio source into the camera but what I get is a very low level and it is not going to be usable. It's not clean and doesn't sound good at all. If I turn the input level on the camera down all the way or do not even plug an input into the camera's jack, vMix seems to think there is something feeding into it. The left set of level meters are going like there is an input signal. When I click the monitor button there isn't anything coming out of the headphone jack.
I have tried getting vMix to recognize the "line in" from the computer and it doesn't even recognize any of that hardware.
Windows 10 sound properties will respond properly when I plug devices into the various jacks on the rear of the computer but vMix is not recognizing any of the audio on the computer.
I've also tried using a Blackmagic Decklink Extreme 4K
vMix can see the Decklink but does not recognize any of the audio inputs on it.
The Decklink software does detect the audio inputs from the card.
Am I missing something here?
Getting the audio working is our last hurdle to transferring from OBS to vMix.
TIA

With the more full-featured Decklinks, typically you need to open their Desktop Video application and set the inputs you want to use, particularly the audio side of things.
It worth noting that it works on the embedded audio model. For example, if you use SDI video but analog audio, you can blast audio through all you want, but you won't hear it if there isn't isn't any video present. I imagine the same thing happens in any combination of audio and video inputs.

not sure what audio sample rate the FX1 outputs but there could be a mismatch, maybe try changing the master sample rate in vmix or audio sample rate in the camera..

I'll look into this. It was interesting that even with the audio selected as "line in" on the camera and with nothing connected the vMix Audio Settings for the camera had levels showing on the "Pre" side. It's as if there is noise on the input.

yes, i think that might be an artifact with how it handles a sample rate mismatch.. i may be wrong, let us know if it fixes it..
with your computers line input.. i dont think vMix can see WDM audio, only ASIO for inputs.. check out ASIO4ALL

I'm not sure what changed because there are only two available settings and they both seem to work now. At any rate, thanks! We do have an XLR to USB device coming. We have a cable adapter right now from XLR to 1/8" line input so the USB adapter device will provide much better audio. We were using a FireWire audio input before that died.
