PTZ Camera Best Connection?

Hello all, Thanks in advance for your help! I have a few questions about hooking up a PTZ camera to my PC; 1. I'm planning to use POE for powering the camera. Will the ethernet also send the video back to the PC or do I need HDMI? 2. Should I use both Ethernet (for power/control) and HDMI (video send) for best results? 3. If I send the video back via ethernet only, will the image be as good as via HDMI?
Thanks again, Van

#1 If the cam supports PoE you will get some sort of stream out of the cam over LAN. RTSP, MJPEG, NDI, whatever the cam supports #2 All streams will have latency. For HDMI you would need a capture device which adds costs. #3 Most streams will need some sort of compression. So HDMI will be the better quality. If this matters for the final stream viewers consume is up to what is accepted/expected

For the best result, I use SDI for the video and LAN for the control.
Most of my PTZ's have NDI or NDIHX. I use that where I'm doing an event and don't have time to run SDI + LAN to the camera.
My thought is while NDI or NDIHX work pretty well, if you have the ability to quickly run an SDI or HDMI cable into a capture card as well, do it. I have more problems with NDI than SDI. Typically have problems with HDMI over distance (which can be overcome with HDBaseT extenders), but fine for short runs of course.

For NDI you need to know your network and understand what is happening with adding video to the network. Feel free to take a look at some NDI Bandwidth requirements.
