Doing some research before buying. This card:

Does it come with full size SDI, or is there adaption cables required?

Does it come with any such cables in the box?

Anyone have any bad stories about it? I went to using Magewell some time back, but they don't seem to have a product that matches this one. 8 IN/OUT SDI up to 1080p60.

I'm building a new system and since I'm not ready to make everything NDI yet, I still have issues with NDI not being super reliable in complex networks. Seems reliable with a dedicated switch or controlled conditions, but larger networks it doesn't always behave well.

Please answer any question you can and feel free to advise the pros and cons. I'm very used to Magewell, "they just work". It's hard to find motherboards that are reasonably priced, have 10GBit ethernet and more than 4 PCI slots. So every slot counts and a 8x SDI in one slot, along with the price per SDI is appealing with this card.

We have three of the Quad 2s in three different computers. Some observations:

1. The BMD drivers are a PITA. They work but the card is a PITA to set up and get going although once you've set up two of them,
the third is easier ;-)

2. Don't get the BMD DIN cables, they suck and are hard to attach and detach. I bought the Canare for the last machine

3. Once you get it configured, the cards are really good but BMD is famously medicore with their driver implementation. We have Magewell SDI and HDMI to USB convertors
for laptops and their products are good too but the Quad 2 has been rock solid for us with three of them in use over a year.

B&H has them in stock, they have been hard to find toward the end of last year so now is a good time to get one.
