Hello, I've just stumbled on a weird (possible problem).

If I have a video running and want to fade to a complete transparent input (Colour - Transparent). The fade button doesn't work. But if I change the color from transparent to an actual color, the fade works.

Is this something that can be fixed?

On some productions we are using a main PC with vMix, and another PC for the graphics. We use NDI and set the main PC to have the NDI feed from the second as a overlay. When the Graphics PC isn't going to show anything anymore, the second PC will fade or cut to the transparent input. It works with cut, but not fade.

Thanks!

It's to do with how vMix layers inputs for a fade. When you fade out vMix fades the colour input in over the video (which makes no visual different) then at the end deletes the video (which looks like a cut). You will find the video appears to fade in ok.

Here is one way around it if you have 4K or Pro :-
  1. Add a Black Colour input
  2. Add a White Colour input
  3. Add a Mix input and select the Black as preview and White on Output of it.
  4. On your videos go to Settings, then Colour Key, then select the Mix input as the Key/Fill Input
  5. Put your video on the main output
  6. Now when you click fade on the Mix input the Video will fade in an out to transparent as you need (You'll need to set the NDI output to support alpha but it sounds like you have already done that.)

So to show a video you would need to cut it to output then fade the mix input to alter it's transparency - triggers will be your friend!

Hope that helps.
