What does the checkbox "self render" do? What is the meaning of the FPS: xx display reverting to zero and the Backup FPS: display reading a value?

Thanks

When playing a video file or adding a camera input, these provide a constant stream of frames to vmix at a certain frame rate.
(i.e 30 frames per second)
This is what shows up in the FPS label.

If an input is static or paused, then vMix needs to generate the frames itself in order to make sure a recording does not have any dropped frames.
This is what shows up in the Backup FPS label.

If an input has a lower or higher frame rate than the output (say a 25fps source but a 30fps output/recording) then you can untick Self Render to have the frame rate converted on the fly.

Hope this helps,

Regards,

Martin
