Hi guys,

We currently have an issue with our newly designed setup. We have a small studio with an external audio mixer. We play video's in Vmix, the audio is routed to Bus A, exitting through a soundcard to an external audio mixer. Then it's being routed to the soundcard again and we capture it in Vmix. When we play that audio with the video, the audio is too late.
We think this has something to do with the buffer of the soundcard. When Vmix starts, it's automatically set to 960. When we try to lower it, Vmix doesn't agree. If we restart Vmix it's on 960 again.
Can anyone help us with a possible solution?

Last resort is always to play the audio directly with the video, but we would like to have the audio guy control the levels and EQ of all sound.

The delay is absolutely normal, and it won't be consistent, it's a mix of buffer and processing from Vmix. You can delay the video, but I don't think you ever be right in sync.

If you are sending the audio out for monitoring, you should only send specific feeds back to VMix via Aux buses, anything that orginate from VMix like Videos and VMix Call should not be sent back to VMix.

If you are sending the audio out for mixing, then things get a lot more complicated, and at this point you are better off using external playback like Playback Pro.

Another option is to mix seperately with a control surface, or the iPad App (not great I know).

I use the Wave L2 Maximizer plugin on calls and Videos to normalize levels.

We have the same issue, send audio out to a mixer on a vmix audio bus (Behringer X32 via the resident USB sound card) return on an audio input. Audio is 4 frames delayed on the outbound and 4 frames delayed on the return. It is not the mixer/sound card as the talent mics come from the mixer via USB and are in sync with the cameras in Vmix. Are they fixing this?

It's not something that can be "fixed". The delay is part of the processing that happens with any software driven application. If you want to avoid delay, you'll need a hardware switcher like a Ross Carbonite switcher.
