The majority of talents in front of our cameras are not really used to that, meaning being filmed live in a multicam situation. In most such productions we use vMix's excellent support for Tally lights to guide the talent into looking at the camera we want them to face. This simple little thing is hard for many. And they typically confuse red with green. In addition to that, a preview light that jumps between cameras as we sometimes change quickly what to switch to next makes the talent(s) loose their concentration.
Therefore, how about an option in the Tally setting to "Do not use Preview lights" (or whatever wording that makes sense).
Sidenote: in our first build with the FlexTally system we used GPIO where Preview can indeed be disabled in vMix (and for the Flextally GPIO settings). Unfortunately that is not possible when the Flextally, that nowadas support vMix, is connected directly to the network.
Thanks,
/R

Short term, could you simply go in to DISPLAY SETTINGS, and change the PREVIEW colour to BLACK, leaving the PROGRAM colour whatever you are comfortable with. This is what I use for the WEB CONTROLLER tally when used standalone on a tablet. P

creative idea!
But, to begin with I am pretty sure vMix does not tell the tally system which colour to use. In any case, the FlexTally can only display Green and Red. And I do not want Black as Preview inside vMix.
(also the FlexTally's preview LEDs are really cumbersome to disable, needs cutting a wire).
I would prefer a general feature, not tied to FlexTally.

-1 Don't blame vMix for a third party product's lack of functionality.
I would personally take it up with the manufacturer. You're going to have this problem again if you interface with a different switcher. Are you going to call it a fault of every switcher down the line?
They have a configuration utility. They can add an option to ignore the preview tally bit. Nip it in the bud and be futureproofed.

Thanks,
/R A simple solution would be: Put a red gel inside, right behind the large window. So the people in front of the cam will only see the red light while maintaining the green preview signal through the small window on the back for the cam operator. The original concern was the preview light was misleading to confused talent. Unfortunately, they won't be confused after that... just misled. This does bring up a good point that there's still value to the preview light. I have a feeling though that those lights are not triggered independently though, so there may not be a way to disable only one of those preview lights without doing some intrusive modification. Quote:No one has blamed vMix... this was just a feature request. So... calm down, relax ;-) Everyone knows that you don't actually calm people down by saying "calm down" or "relax." Ask every married man in the whole wide world. The point is, as demonstrated above for one, that disabling the preview tally bit in vMix is a pretty aggressive approach with system-wide ramifications. If your tally scenario gets complex (i.e. independent multiviews, etc.), you may have places you will want to see preview lights. It's best to take care off the places that actually don't want them rather than disable them system-wide. Tally isn't just for talent.
