I am looking for a server that I can have in my studio and thus not depend on third party servers I have discovered this software that turns a pc into a server. I do not have a free pc to test it. Has anyone installed or been able to test it? Tell us, please. The website is todostreaming.eu and the software is "OnPremise SRT Server" Regards.

There are many servers on the market: some are even free, Like Mist Server or Nginx-RTMP... And they can run either on Windows or Linux, or even as a Virtual Machine with Virtualbox or VMWare...
Other solutions include Wowza or Nimble Streamer. These are for very high volume and are not free.
However what do you want a server for? - receive streams for use in your productions ? - or deliver streams from your studio to viewers on the internet
The former is easy? The latter is not as simple as it seems...
Regarding OnPremise SRT Server, I know this company for many years. It's a spanish guy who has already created many streaming systems for Linux. You can try his solution on a Virtual Machine. However for what it does (basically receiving, transmuxing and transmitting SRT feeds) it's very expensive and you can easily do the same for free with just FFMPEG and a few binaries like SRT-Live-Transmit. If you want or need a GUI for this, then pay for it!

What I am looking for is to have the server in my studio. The other day the server I had hired broke and my entire distribution network went to shit. I got so pissed off that I don't want servers anywhere else anymore. Alone in my study. If I have the server in another site I depend on two things: 1) My internet line 2) The server where it is hosted
If I have the server in my facilities, I only depend on my internet line failure ... Regards.

I got that! But what for ?
- Serving thousands of people simultaneously ? > needs tons of bandwidth and more than a single server ! - Sending contributions feeds ? - or just feeding other platforms/CDNs ? > you still depend on them

Allright then. OnPremise SRT Server can be a good solution for this but the ones I mentioned before can easily do this job too. That's contribution.

I have spoken to TodoStreaming and they have told me that the OnPremise SRT Server can work perfectly on a small pc. I have been recommended to buy a "Minisforum Z83-F" on amazon and it costs about € 140 (surprisingly cheap) ... By trying I do not lose anything (I have it here on Monday) ... If I do not like it, I return it to amazon. On Monday my IT staff comes to install it ... I'll tell you. Regards.
Edit Well, I already have the server mounted on the mini pc, I'm going to test it for a few days (I have a free trial month). I will tell you later.

We have been using SRT MiniServer (https://srtminiserver.com) for a while and it works without a glitch. You can even send feedback SRT stream back to your sources. Proxy addon is very handy for jumping over firewalled networks.
It's been running on the same vMix machine, on separate machine and as a VM.
The instance on vMix machine takes significant amount of CPU so we droped that solution.
We are running it as a VM lately.
Highly recommended @Archer1.

Quote:Using Parallels on Mac OS. Which ones did you try? Virtualbox and VMWare for Windows. The manual says it's not supported though... Do you have a license ? I only tried with the trial and suspect that's the reason why it's not supported > too easy to create an instance every 30 days ! Such a product is meant to be used in the cloud, I simply can't understand if virtualization is not supported at all!

Oh I get it now! We're not talking about the same product !
My mistake, I did not pay enough attention to your writing !
You're talking about SRTMiniServer from Gananin ! I'm talking about OnPremise SRT Server as the thread implies...

Hello everyone. I've been testing it for a month now and I'm in awe. The software works perfectly. Right now I have created 5 inputs and 16 outputs to different sites (among them YouTube and clients that receive in srt outside my network and by UDP multicast to distribute them in my own studio. I am going to proceed with the purchase of the software (obviously a license forever. I don't want to pay month to month) In case anyone is interested, I have set up the server in a Minisforum (small pc that they recommended to me) https://www.amazon.com/F...id=1611824322&sr=8-3Regards :)
