Ive been trying to figure out how people sync the words across the screen of live camera. There are a few times I would
like to do this. For example, we are doing ADVENT Candle lighting and instead of the slide for the words to the music
I normally do I have the camera on the candle lighting and they just have to sing the song as is. It would be
nice if I could have the words scroll across.

Anyone do this and can you give me a hint as to how?

I don't know what you were expecting from vMix, but if if you're low on budget, be creative ! vMix has all the features you need to show lyrics from a song as an overlay which can be manually triggered as the song goes (like a slideshow)...
Yes it requires a little effort and manual work but at least nothing prevents you from doing it
