Hello,

I'm running the latest official build of vMix, how do you know which NDI is out? Is there a way to know?

Also, if you are using scan converter is there a way to know?

Thanks in advanced,
Fish

vMix only creates full NDI. Scan Convertor only creates full NDI.

NDI-HX is only created by devices with hardware encoders, like the Newtek Spark or Kiloview interfaces or Newtek and PTZ Optics cameras.

There may be an iOS camera app that creates NDI-HX.

I usually look at the stats for the port on my switch. If it's passing > 20 Mbps you know its not NDI-HX.

even for the new 24 build, since it uses 4.5 NDI?

In some devices with the latest NDI software you can select the NDI bandwidth. So it gets harder to say just by the bandwidth if it's HX or not.
Maybe there is more details available in the Newtek NDIanalysis software. I haven't used it so far and have no experiences with it, sorry.

Yes, even for v4.5 of NDI - there is no software encoding of NDI|HX available in the NDI SDK (for Windows).

Now that NDI has added Screen Capture HX, wouldn't it now be possible for vMix to output in NDI-HX?

Perhaps, if the SDK has been extended. However, Screen Capture HX requires access to NVENC on an nVidia GPU. So, you would be reducing the resources otherwise available for handing outbound streams.

I mentioned the variable bitrate of full NDI encoders. I did a test with NDI|HX and variable full NDI encoders.
Maybe this is interesting.

@Mavik: thanks for the video, interesting to watch!

Last year I ran into some problems with a Birddog stuttering when sending multiple feeds to different receivers. I switched to multicast, saves a lot of bandwidth! Every feed is only send once, even if you use a feed on 10 inputs in Vmix, Studiomonitor or different receivers.

cheers,

Mark.
