Hi all,
I have been reading up on a lot of network-related setups.
In my VMix PC I have a motherboard with two NICs.
Uptill now I have been working with a separate network (and separate networkswitch) for Dante on one NIC and my Internetconnection with LiveU Solo, NDI and so on another networkswitch and the second NIC in the VMix PC.

Now I am thinking about setting up a small flightcase in which I put a Unifi Edgerouter 4 and an EdgeSwitch 8 or 16 with PoE(+). Is it possible to configure the router and switch in a way that Dante gets it's own Vlan, NDI gets it's own Vlan, and have the internetconnection on a separate Vlan? The Vmix PC should be able to access everything through the both NICs.
The reason for this is that I have read (and experienced myself with a setup at a clients studio) that Dante and NDI don't always play well together.

Besides that I want to use the router for DHCP distribution and the internetconnection. Keep in mind that this will not be a fixed studio-setup but a setup that is constantly in different places, with different internetconnections.

So my question is: is there a best practice for such a setup which is equiped with a router and switch setup for the whole network

Thanks in advance for any tips, hints, tricks or advice given. If I am not really clear with my description, please let me know...

Marc

You can setup a switch with different vlans.

VLAN1 is for Internet & NDI 10.0.0.x/24 or 192.168.0.x/24
DHCP Server & Router here.

VLAN2 is for Dante Primary 169.254.x.x/16
No DHCP or you wish so.

Wich will work for small setups. Keep in Mind that you want to aplly QoS Rules for Dante only on the Dante VLAN if you can.
Separate Switches are recommended unless you really know what you do.

If you Use heavily NDI / 8NDI Streams fill a 1Gbit/s Port
Callers and Internet plus NDI will eventually require a 10gbe Port & Switch.

This is Possible on most Managed Switches.
