Hello people. I've been trying to get to grips with Vmix for about a month now. I've been able to successfully stream to You Tube and this has worked fine. However, I haven't had any luck with doing local WMV streaming. I've followed all of the steps on this YouTube video here but when I try to play in VLC nothing happens. I've even tried to play it in Media player - same thing. One thing though, when I launch the IP address and port on my web browser, it takes me to a web page with controller buttons etc, so at least it is set up correctly. Do you or anyone else know what else I should be looking at - maybe another port or something? Any advice would be gladly appreciated.

Are you using windows media encoder or silver lite ? either of these are needed to generate the WMV local stream. Then run windows media player and file open URL and put in the local IP You may have to turn off windows firewall Good luck

Hi.
I've updated Silverlight - didn't work.
I Installed Windows Media Encoder (Although I'm not meant as I am on Windows 7). It still didn't make any difference.
I also switched off my Windows Firewall and also disabled my Kapersky anti virus as well - this didn't make any difference.
I've tried to play the stream with VLC - the IP address just keeps on blinking in the player, and in Windows Media player it says something about the codec not being installed.
Do you have any other suggestions?

Works for me with VLC. No Silverlight or Windows Media Encoder installed. Both machines running Windows 8.1 vMix Settings: Port 8080 Size 640x360 Bit Rate 20000000 FPS 25 Quality 90 Codec WMV3 Audio Codec WMA 9.2 - 128kbps, 48 kHZ, stereo CBR In VLC just opened a network stream on http://192.168.2.12:8080 and watched the stream.....

Hello again.
I changed my settings and did all this, but not much different.
I think I'll have to go down checking on ports that might be blocked elsewhere. I have done a netstat and ipconfig and my ip addresses and ports are what they are meant to be.
I'm going to seek some other technical advice regarding ports, and I'll update you to let you know how successful I am.
Many thanks for all your answers.

It looked like we´ve the same problem. One step in the right direction could be, don´t forget the "http://" in front of the ip adress. If I start the wmv-stream with this, I´ve audio but no video. A workaround for the port erros is, using a different port, closing the record-settings, reopen it and using your port 8080.
