Hey - Looking for some help on a recuring issue.

We have been using vMix for livestream of our church services for several years. Several weeks ago we had an audio issue, the audio was "digitally fuzzy". This week we had the same issue; however, much worse. We ended up having to completely reboot the PC, while we where live, in order to correct the issue.

Here is a link to the YouTube feed with the bad audio, before the reset.

So a couple of questions.

1. Where should I start in troubleshooting?
2. Is there a tool for us to monitor/test audio before we go live?
3. Any other thoughts or ideas would be great.

Thanks!

I'll assume you have a PA mixer in your sanctuary. Does it feed directly into the built-in sound device of your vMix computer?

Or are you using a USB sound device that is connected to the vMix computer? It sounds as if you have some kind of feedback loop within your vMix computer.

What is the audio output of your vMix computer connected to, if anything?

I watched another one of your services and the audio was clean.

Sorry for the delay. Here is our setup.

Our mixer feeds into a Scarlett 2i2 encoder, this feeds via USB to the vMix PC.

Note: We did check the audio at the encoder during the live stream and it was good. However, I do not know for sure if the monitor out is pre or post encoding.

We are not using an audio output on the vMix pc. We are only recording locally and livestreaming to YouTube.

Audio is AAC at 128kbps

I did find that the Scarlett 2i2 driver was outdated, so I did update that just in case that was an issue.

Anything else I should be checking?

If the Scarlett is a Gen 3, it should have a 3 position Direct Monitor switch that reads, Off (white circle), Mono (1 green circle), Stereo (2 green circles).

Are the outputs on the back of the Scarlett 2i2 connected to anything?

Check the front of the Scarlett 2i2 and make sure Phantom Power isn't engaged.

In Windows Settings (or thru Control Panel) check your Audio Device sources. What is the Playback Device being used?

Make sure your Power Options in Windows are set to High Performance.
