Hello, I would like to use vMix as a video-source (fill + alpha-signal) to an external vision mixer. F.Ex. to use graphics coming from vMix Social and feed those as 2 seperate SDI-signals to an external vision mixer to be keyed there. Or maybe have a DVE-size-reduced image, or maybe play an internal videoclip containing alpha, or maybe a website containing transparency and feed those to the external vision mixer.
So the simple question is: Is it possible to send the program-video via output 1 (fill-signal) to an external mixer and maybe use the output 2 to send the corresponding alpha-channel (the black and white videosignal used to to the external keying with) to the same external mixer? How can this be done?
I know you can put the output on pure green (or something else) and do a chromakey in the external mixer, but then the transparencies of the original graphic are very difficult to get correct, this method is only good when there are no transparencies in the graphic (i.e. just for having pure opaque graphics, where the alpha-channel consists only of 0% and 100% white and no values in-between).
Thank you for your answer. Michel VRT - Brussels.

Goede middag euh, Doggy? ;-)
Thanks for the information you mentioned in the helpfiles. This was indeed the solution I needed to know. It's good to know you need additional hardware to do this (which seems logical as I want to output SDI-signals). And this is a good short-term solution.
I also see in the NDI-settings that there is a possibility to include the alpha-channel in the NDI-output, so that option makes it even "future-proof"!
Thanks again for the quick reply! Michel.

Beste Wensen Michel en Doggy,
I today I was your question.
We send with our bm decklink duo 2 and bm decklink quad 2 from VMIX a key and a fill signal to our ATEM mixer. This works witout any problems.
Kind Regards
Koen Deschepper

so it is possible to have a person standing in front green, Key out the green, and output the person with alpha/transparent background to a Blackmagic Hyper Deck, or Atoms Ninja/Samurai, then Import the file into Premiere & only need to add background (!?) We've Multicorder, is it possible to record a chroma key with background in vMix and also output alpha/transparent video to an external recorder? Apologies for ignorance, & thanks for the information already posted in this Forum!
