it would be great if you could add settings to virtual PTZ to ramp speeds up and down and make movement look smoother (not for hardware PTZ cameras just virtual PTZ).. It currently looks really sharp and stiff when you make a joystick or zoom change.. ideally if there was velocity curves to edit movement response and control the rate each axis and button eases to a stop and eases up from a start that would be excellent..

also it would be great if there was an option to manually enter zoom range as resolution sizes like 1080 or 720 instead of 10x, 4x etc.. so if you have a 4k camera and you are streaming at 1080 you could select 1080 as the zoom setting and know the maximum zoom range matches the streams resolution.. this would be especially helpful as more 4k, 6k, and 8k cameras come on the market some with slightly different resolutions.. for example if you want to use a 6k camera and stream at 720 (ie: lots of virtual PTZ headroom) its hard to know what setting like 6x or 8x to use..

I noticed in recent vMix live show Martin responded that ramping speeds for PTZ was not possible with hardware cameras but would this feature be possible to add for virtual PTZ where its just software ?

it would be really useful for people using 4k video with mirrorless cameras like GH5 and reframing to a 1080 or 720 stream.. the current movement for virtual PTZ looks jerky and feels bit like a security camera rather than being cinematic.. a nice ramp up/down speed setting would make the feature more professional to use..

This is a huge must-have for all users of PTZ cameras!

This Functionality needs to cover both movement and zoom in two areas:
  1. Manual via a separate control (eg joystick) or within vMix.
  2. Moving and zooming to a new preset position.

Functionally, both need:
  • a maximum default speed setting for each
  • A default fade-in/build time to reach Max speed
  • A default fade-out/reduction time to slow the camera down to stopped *

* Most useful for moving to a new position where the end position is know.

Manual and Preset must have separate controls; ie: different Max speed for manual moving v's moving to a new preset position. This is important as manual control will most likely alway be a lot slower than moving to a new position which usually needs to happen quickly.

NB: All the above need to be changed on the fly via Triggers/Shortcuts so the setting can be changed away from the default values for different needs.
