For my first time, I'm using a VST audio plugin on an input channel. I'm used to using DAWs (i.e., Logic Pro X) which has automatic delay compensation. VMIX does not appear to do any automatic compensation, is that correct?

My input channel is a sync'd audio/video signal from and HDMI source, and as soon as I inserted the (noise reduction) plugin to the audio, the audio and video were no longer in sync. I solved it by adding -500ms (in this case) of delay. it's a bit confusing to me, since I would have thought I should add positive delay to the video signal... but it worked.

Just wanted to get some feedback if this is expected or if there's an easier way? This method, the sync is visual, there doesn't appear to be a tool to calculate the plugin delay for you.

Thanks!

I'm also interested about this, I have a same "problem". Anyway if I remember well, the positive delay for the video is not working with the IP based inputs... only with the HDMI/HDSDI...

Hi,

As vMix is Live, delay compensation is not possible, so for this reason a plugin with no or little latency is required.
(Most plugins are no or very little latency in our tests, for what its worth).

A negative delay on a live input will also have no effect, so not sure why you are seeing a difference there.

Hi Martin,
thanks for your response. This is definitely not my experience. a negative delay does improve the sync in my case.
fyi, I'm using a real time noise filter from iztope and agree that it really should be a real time filter, but sure enough... it's got nearly 500ms of delay. All is good for stream/record/export of a live session when I apply about -500ms of delay on the audio channel. and if I do the opposite (+ delay) the sync gets further out. I'm glad it's working, still confused as to now why it works though.
