Hey guys,
I need some help about the hardware that vMix needs in order to record a live event.
I already have some equipment such as:
1)Apple Mac Mini
a)2.3GHz quad-core Intel Core i7
b)1 TB Hard drive
c)8GB RAM DDR3
d)4x USB 3.0
e)1x Thunderbolt
f)1x Firewire 800
g)1x HDMI
2)2x Nikon P500 (DSRL)
3)2x Tripod(s)
4)2x Shure PG48-XLR (Mics)
This is the equipment I purchased yesterday.
In order to stream the live event, I wish to connect both cameras to my Mac and both mics aswell. But, I 'm afraid that the Mac won't support that. In the same way, I tried to connect the cameras via USB to the Mac and they didn't appear on vMix(I know, I'm a noob).
Therefore, I wish I could get your help with the following aspects:
How to connect both cameras to the Mac? Are they compatible?
Which cameras are compatible with vMix?
What other equipment do I need?
Any other information.

vMix is windows only so you will have to run Win7 or Win 8.1 on your Mac. You will need to use a capture card to bring in a camera (unless you are using web-cams or a Magewell USB3 capture dongle) so you will probably need a thunderbolt expansion box such as the Sonnet to connect to your mac. This would then house one or two PCI cards such as the Averemedia Darkcrystal SDKII DUO of a Blackmagic Duo/Quad. (I am assuming that your Mac has a thunderbolt connection) As for your Nikons, you may find that they do not give a clean HDMI feed and as they are not designed to stay on in operation , may have overheating issues. Can I suggest that you hold off on spending anymore at the moment and do a bit of research. Here is a starting point. http://www.vmix.com.au/supported-hardware.aspx

Very informative. About the Sonnet Thunderbolt expansion, I didnt't get that in the sense of bringing in a camera to vMix :(
Thanks about the Nikons information, I'll try to get my money back.
