Hi there,

I'm looking at purchasing a USB audio interface for my vmix streams, and have my eye on a Tascam US-16x08. ( https://www.storedj.com....-for-mac-windows-and-ios ).

The question I'd like to ask is, with one of these connected would I be able to use each audio input as a separate 'input' in vmix? Or would all 16 channels be forced into a single audio input?

Ideally, I'd like to set each of the 16 inputs up seperatley and send them off via different busses within vmix.

thanks!

No guarantee without testing, but if it has/uses Asio drivers you should be OK with this. Certainly with other Asio devices, vMix will see all individual channels.

Check the Behringer X Air XR18 if you want to do this with no bad surprizeµ
Best value on the market imho

We use the Tascam everyday,
It works well with the ASIO drivers.

I have the 20x20 here.

I have that exact model and use it with vMix on occasions. The ASIO drivers work just as you'd expect, in terms of vMix making each input available as a separate sound source, plus it has the bonus feature of a built-in DSP monitor mixer (with a software control panel). As such, I've very happy with mine.

The way I use the DSP mixer (with vMix) is to create a local mix of (1) my microphone - and that of any other local participants who will have an earpiece/headphones, and (2) a group output from vMix (eg Bus B) which carries any other audio from vMix, like remote callers, video file playback, etc (in other words, a mix-minus output). By mixing those together in the Tascam unit and listening to the headphone output, there is no delay on the local mics as would happen if listening to the program output of vMix.
