Hello Community!

I'm pretty much new to all this but I have a problem, which is driving me nuts since day one and I also spent hours and days trying to find solutions.

So I set up a virtual studio with 7 boxes, these boxes are linked to 7 different vMix Calls. So far so good. Each caller has its own lower thirds title. Easy. As soon as i transition to the view with all 7 callers, the lower thirds for each caller transition-in. Perfect.

BUT they do not transition out after a certain time, they stay visible the entire time, always. I would love to have them transition out after, lets say 15-20 seconds, which is enough time imo for viewers to read the name and function of the people (callers). How do I solve this problem, is there anybody out there with a solution?

I'd appreciate any type of help!

thanks in advance
toby

Try with triggers

If that doesn't work due to the linking try with a script

Might deped a bit on how yu actually linked the LT's

I tried working with triggers, doesnt seem to work. Scripting, never done, no idea. I mean, why isnt there an option saying: This effects duration: 500ms after 500ms it automatically transitions out. This is way too complicated for a not so much complicated action - transition-out...

I believe you will need a different approach (again i don't know how you linked the titles)

you cant transition out a layer (if that is what you used) nor can you trigger it as a overlay (out) as it is not an overlay in the first place

splitting up the titles, and trigger on the transition of your set to display the title (overlay) plus one with a delay to take the title away

btw are the LT's transitioning in or animating in ?

Thats what I've done:
1. create a virtual set
2. invited 7 people via vmix call
3. in the virtual set settings, I have 10 options to set up multiviews, so i added the 7 vmix call boxes as multiviews
4. i created 7 lts
5. i hit up the settings of each caller, went into the multiview of the callers settings and set their specific lt as nb1 in mutliview

The lts are animating in, yes

that was my approach on how to make it work...

to keep is simpler

Why not create the 7 LT's as one combined ? then trigger them to overlay and triggers will work fine to let them go away too

screenshot or so would be nice

That's exactly how we do it and it works great.

That doesn't help at all. As I want to display each caller in fullscreen from time to time as well - with their specific LTs...

use the MultiViewOverlay command with triggers for your LTs to disappear after some time for each vMixCalls

Won't be animated though, as it's only a toggle to show or hide multiview overlays.

Doggy's solution is the best one if you want animations on OnOverlayOut.

If you have the time, could you drop me a detailed step by step guide, as I cant seem to work this out on my own. I spent HOURS if not days, trying to use the triggers.
As I said, I'm just like 2 weeks into this software...

I'd really appreciate it! Merci et bienvenue dans la belle région de Bordeaux

Is part of the problem when one expects an answer or response . One is give a solution and another criteria pops up. That's not how it works

First make sure you know what you want and be able to transfer that into the requirements . Once if there is salt in the soup its hard to get it out if at all .
You know what they say about time ;-)

And jumping right into the deep end ?

the easiest way to test commands is simply to use the HTTP Web API, like

http://127.0.0.1:8088/api/?Function=Fade&Duration=1000

So learn how the MultiViewOverlay command works, then it's easy to set your triggers

here's an example to adapt

http://127.0.0.1:8088/api?function=MultiviewOverlay&Value=2&Input=21

Yes, idk about you, but in my case there was just not enough time between getting to know the software in core detail and the clients time schedule. Thats how it is sometimes :)

As well its not another criteria, it's the same problem: Why is it not possible to transition the LTs out. Thats a problem or limitation of the software. It shouldnt get more complicated and add up to the list of problems when switching different view-modes. Simple as that. A global "transition in after X seconds" and a "transition out after X seconds" in the settings of ANY layer would be the proper solution. A mile long workaround is just simply cumbersome.

Anyway, thanks everybody for taking the time to reply and offering solutions. I will look into the different approaches.

Because you chose to go for a Virtual Set and do not use the overlay feature the way it should.
You chose the hard way and even top of the line hardware switchers (costing thousands and thousands of $) couldn't do it. It takes at least a 8 ME switcher to do it... Look at the cost for a 4 ME already.

Ok lets recap a bit as there is also seem to be confusion (to me) what you are actually referring to using Multiview and/or Virtual set and transitioning and/or animating LT in/out

most titles (LT's) build in have an animation in coded in but not an animation out ! so being specific about animation or transition is important

I would ditch the Virtual set idea (or term) and stick with Multiviews ( a image representation would have helped us also )

Have a multiview with all your individual calls laid out
Have a multiview with all your individual LT's laid out

trigger the calls MV on transitionin to Overlay the MV LT's and trigger it to remove that overlay after certain time

Have each individual call have a trigger to overlay the LT and trigger to remove overlay after time

if you now transition to the all calls MV the all LT's will be overlayed (and go away after time)
if you now transition to an individual call it's own LT will do the same as above and so on

The LT's will animate according to how they are internally coded

btw one can copy triggers from one input to another ;-)
