Hi All,

I have created powerfull workstation for using with vMix, but I have problem with dropped frames in multicorder.

Configuration:

HP z820
2x Xeon E5-2630v2
16GB RAM
SSD for system
3x 7200 SAS HDD's for recording
Geforce GTX 680 4GB
Windows 7 Pro x64 or Windows 8.1 Pro x64

2x DeckLink Quad for 8 inputs (HD 1080i50)
1x DeckLink Duo for 2 outputs

If I add more than 5 inputs (capture devices) to vMix and then try to record it in Multicorder I receive dropped frames.

I saw the descriptions of the systems with 8 inputs.
For example: http://www.streambreeze....oadcast.htm#.U43ZFfl_u9V
Or this (but I think, it's a "fake", because two Matrox VS4 boards are not supported in one system for vMix): http://www.vmix.es/index.php/sistemas

What could I do wrong?

Hi Denis,

You will need to have a look at the log files of each recording to identify the source of the dropped frames.
If it says the dropped frames is caused by CPU/Disk then it is likely the CPU is not fast enough, or the codec selected
does not scale to multiple cores.

If it is due to source frame rate, then there might be a system bus limitation in the system.
(The pci express ports may be shared or placing limits on bandwidth)

You can check for the second limit by adding all 8 inputs without recording and checking the statistics window.

Regards,

Martin

Statistic with 8 inputs (reseted after 2-3 seconds after adding inputs)

I think, it's CPU... first CPU cores are loaded up to 100%, but secondary CPU is not loaded.

Mpeg2 might not support multiple separate processors. You might have more success with AVI and Decklink MJPEG
