Hello,

There are camcorders with a buit-in streaming encoder to stream directly to youtube/facebook via RTMP. But, is it possible to stream directly to Vmix and then use that feed in our production? Would it be a good way to have a camera feed from a remote location to use in our mix ?

I'm looking for a cheaper alternative to LiveU or Teradek Cube bonding service.

Another possibility is a SRT (Secure Reliable Transport), which is the equivalent of NDI but outside a LAN. It looks promising, but there are no cameras with SRT encoding yet (except the new JVC connected cams).

I've sucessfully tested the iphone app called Larix Broadcaster to send a SRT feed to my Vmix. I works great and has a good picture quality. How can I do the same with my camera? I found some encoders but they are expensive, require external power, are cumbersome...

Maybe with 5G all of these problems are gone.

Meanwhile, any ideas?

Thanks a lot!

One option is to setup a Nimble server on AWS, and feed your RTMP into that.

Then, you can have SRT come out and send it to your vMix.

Haven't tried it myself yet, but Nimble claims to be able to even run on a raspberry pi, so you could have one of those on your local network, taking in an RTMP, and outputting SRT.
