I did my first open mic live stream yesterday with six guests. It didn't go great. I set up the stream in Streamyard because, in my testing, I'd had two guests unable to connect with VMix Call, so it gave me a backup option.

I set up the production in VMix and set it up with External 1 to go into Streamyard. It worked a charm for the video, but it turned out that the remote callers coming in through VMix had no audio going to Streamyard.

I have my External in VMix set up like this:

External Settings

In Streamyard, I simply select VMix Video as the video source:

Streamyard Video Settings

However there is no VMix External option available as an audio source in Streamyard:

Streamyard Audio Settings

I don't suppose anyone has any ideas on a workaround? Streaming directly out of VMix isn't an option because I have two callers who couldn't switch their audio source in VMix. I know that this is something that VMix Call is adding in the Beta version, but until that gets released, I'm not sure how else to do it. Streamyard does allow for audio source selection on the guest side and is so easy to connect to.

I find using both services together to be a potentially excellent solution.

One possibility: You could try to use a virtual audio cable as an output for vMix and as an input for Streamyard.

That’s actually a really good idea. I should’ve thought of it and didn’t. Thanks!
