Thanks: 2 times
Greetings,

Wondering if anyone else has been torn deciding between a GTX 2080S and a RTX 4000?
I’m inclined to go with the RTX 4000 because of the unlimited NVENC sessions (hardware accelerated encoding for multicorder and streaming) at the expense of lower overall benchmarks. This particular build will be working almost exclusively with NDI inputs and outputs.
There may be the occasional 1 or 2 SDI outputs.

I’m curious to learn more about vMix’s processing pipeline. There are some high level insights in the Optimizing Performance KB, but would like to know more about how NDI inputs and outputs tax vMix. Is it mostly GPU or CPU? By going with the RTX 4000 would I be trading off number of NDI I/Os for greater # of hardware accelerated encodes?

Looking at 6 NDI Inputs, 2 NDI Outputs and up to 2 SDI Outputs (all 1080p30). Under this scenario which card makes more sense?
Should I offload ISO recording to a 2nd system (NDI Studio Monitor or Livemind Recorder) and go with the GTX2080S?

Thank you!
Sal

you are too near to the 1G limit with 8 NDI. and for unlimited hevc enconder look this https://forums.vmix.com/...adro-P5000-or-RTX2080-Ti

if i not remember bad using our i9s 2066 with 2070s or 2080 turbo we dont have special issues with the same number of NDI.

This 1 Gig limit is easily overcome. Use two Ethernet links to the switch.

Or use one of the new 2.5G or 5G NICs to a suitable switch.

There are even 2.5G USB 3.0/3.1C NICs allowing a faster link to a laptop. https://amzn.to/2Wo6tco
