Hello all,

I am using the latest version of VMIX.

I am looking for a possible work around to have a coworker use the Web Controller feature as a GFX Title editor. I see in the documentation that you need to be on the same network to use the web controller feature, however as we are all working from home that poses a problem. Does anyone know of a work around that would allow me to grant access to someone to use the Web Controller on a different IP address?

Thanks!
D

Hello Andrew,

you need to set up a VPN. I've already tested this scenario and it could work.

Actually, if you can just port forward the proper port on your router directly to the VMix machine, you don't need a VPN. I have done that. But I don't know how they would see the screen.

You can also put your vMix machine in a DMZ and connect via your public ip address. After the event take it out.

The simple way is port forward via your network settings.

You will need to find your router login and then the public IP address of the computer you're wanting to allow to connect. You may need to also whitelist on the other end in reverse but really have I had to.

Once it's whitelisted, you will need to find the public IP address of the Vmix unit and send it along with the port the web controller is using on Vmix, in most cases, the port is 8088.
