Is it possible to change the inputs assigned to the production multiviewer (thats configured in the Outputs menu) via the API? Does it have an input # (like -2) that could be used with the Overlay commands?
Thanks!

You can't assign inputs to the multiviewer via API. Quote: Does it have an input # (like -2) that could be used with the Overlay commands? Not sure what you mean by that. Can you elaborate..

Thanks, I was afraid of that. Might try to create the multiview as an input so I can assign sources to it dynamically. Would love to see this added to the API shortcuts in v24.
In some places the source on PGM is -1 via the API I believe. Was hoping maybe the other outputs could be accessed with a lower negative number. So if output 4 was the multiview and I send the overlay commands to -4 that would get translated to the Production Multiview.

Yes, the outputs (2-4) can be set via the API . You can choose what is sent to these outputs (Ouptut, Preview, Multiwiew or any Input) --check the user guide page 189
Normally the multiview monitor would be connected to your computers video card HDMI or displayport and not necessarily the vMix output ports. Although the output ports can also be set to multiview as well if you need to.
Overlays can appear on either Preview or Output "windows". You don"t send them to a specific "Output" as such.. They can also be triggered via the API.
I'm not sure what you are using to send commands via the API, but you can use the "vMix Panel Builder app" to build your own control panels to send these commands to vMIx. You don't need to know any coding. You can run it from any computer or multiple computers on the network.

I'm working on a custom application that is dynamic, so inputs are all pulled from the project xml and assigned to cross points based on the type of show without the TD ever touching the vmix software directly. I was hoping to create a way for the TD to be able to assign the multiview window without having to remote in to the actual vmix machine.
For example, if the multiview is on output 4: SetMultiViewOverlay Input=-4&Value=1,92 SetMultiViewOverlay Input=-4&Value=2,6 SetMultiViewOverlay Input=-4&Value=3,46 ... I figured this was a stretch, I was just looking for away to access that page where you assign all the sources without having to access the machine.

Got it . I see what you're trying to do. The "SetMultiviewOverlay" is in fact not meant to set the 'Multiview" Output ...
It actually used to set the "INPUT Multiview" where you can overlay up to 10 other inputs within the selected input. This has been a source of confusion for many. The 'Input Multiview' should really be called something else..

I agree, calling them both multiview is confusing, although I feel like it's using the same basic rendering to accomplish either one. I may setup "Inputs" as multiviews going to a direct out so I can assign them dynamically.
Thanks for your help!
