I have just started using VMix. I am using a a PTZ Optics PT20X-USB camera with which I obtain an excellent picture connecting to a monitor via HDMI. However, when I input the camera to VMix via USB, the bottom half of the picture flickers continuously on the preview screens. Can anyone suggest what I am doing wrong?

Just a suggestion for a moderate user.

Check the type of USB it wants to be connected to (USB 3.1v1 or USB3.1v2) etc. check that your cables are good.

Perhaps if the above is solid, remove any other usb devices from the ports and try it that wy as a test to see if its a bandwidth issue?

I personally opted for an Elgato Cam Link 4K HDMI to USB. and then moved to an internal capture card pulling in HDMI instead of using USB.

On my beast machine the ports on the back although USB3.1v2 just didn't seem to have the ability to pull all its data, the picture seemed a tad grainy and it increased my CPU usage.

I ended up using less CPU and having a cleaner input with HDMI ingest. My camera sends 100MBPS using 1080p@60fps, which USB just didn't like. it even made my mouse skip...

Problem solved by altering the System Select rotary switch on the PTZ Camera!

The System Select rotary switch on the PT20-X selects the desired USB & HDMI video output resolution and frame rate. I had it set at 4 (720p-60) which is apparently best for many applications. However, changing it to 0 (1080p-60) has now removed the half-screen flicker I was experiencing.
