Noting that many video conferencing services currently are under great pressure, with varying capability to support the demand, at least I would like a comment about how vMix Call can handle a demand surge. I understand it is probably impossible to promise a service level, but without even an idea it is difficult to offer vMix Call solutions to our customers.

It should be noted that the vMix Call servers are only accessed very briefly to facilitate a peer-to-peer connection (usually less than 20 seconds) which I would think can be handled with relative ease most of the time. After that, the connection is purely between the host and caller and their respective internet connections and is completely independent from the vMix Call servers.

Do we know that vMix Call does not eventually use TURN when faces with difficult NAT? A TURN server does handle media, which means it can be bandwidth constrained.

Hi,

As IceStream mentioned, Peer to Peer is the main way vMix Call connects audio and video between callers and vMix.
So our main servers are only needed during this establishment phase in the vast majority of cases.

In situations where the firewall blocks direct connections, a TURN server may be used. We already have a bunch of these
setup in major world regions, and can quickly fire up more of these if the number of calls that need them increases.

We've also recently optimised the main call servers in recent months to increase capacity, and will continue to do so as needed.

Thank you Martin, vMix is well prepared as usual :)

Would it be possible to get an indication in vMix Call about which connection type is in use? For example, STUN (Peer-Peer) or TURN (via Call server). That would be useful both for assessing the trustworthness, as for perhaps initiating a firewall examination in order to open up for STUN.
