Hi Everyone,

Can someone please help explain which card would be best for multi-camera production with vMix?
I see Martin mentions the VS4 card at NAB but it is very expensive card.

Does vMix work better with DeckLink quad or VS4?

Cheers and thanks for any help.

I'm interested in the same thing. $945 card vs $1500 card. Matrox has strong background in video hardware and BM has had a lot of questionable hardware releases with releasing products before they were ready. Matrix card does have ISO recording but Vmix also offers ISO recording.

And the answer is....

Magewell XI400DE-SDI www.magewell.com/hardwar...i400de-sdi_features.html

OK, I'm not sure, but this card looks like a winner to me if you don't need SDI outputs (Decklink Quad has it).

Magewell is a young brand, but has a good opinion. I have their HD-SDI USB 3.0 dongle and it works great. Much more stable then BM Intensity Shuttle for USB 3.0.

One huge advantage over BM Decklink Quad - it has hardware scaler, so if your output from camera is 1080i but you prefer to do 720p production the cards hardware (not driver, not CPU) will scale the image down.

The US price is $900.

Looks like vMix likes Magewell too. This is one vMix system specification presented at NAB2014 (grabbed from www.youtube.com/watch?v=zru-sxmwVqc @ 0:54 )

I am also in favour of the Magewell card.

I believe VS-4 include hardware acceleration for the MPEG-2 I encoding but hope some expert can clarify.

Thanks,

Ed

I would like to try their cards but the US importer says its a firm buy; that is, no trial and return. bummer. So any feedback from users on these devices helps.

I would like to try out the Magewell cards as well. If anyone had a distro they know is reliable that'd be awesome if you could share :)

Has anyone compared these cards?

Decklink Quad vs. Matrox VS4 vs. Magwell

I'm curious as to which has better features (ie quality, connectivity, system stress, etc)

Thanks
