I have a custom social ticker loosely based on the stock "Social Ticker 1 - Blue" (scrolls vertically). I did some work in the xml code to format it to our needs, but one problem remains - the message text block is fixed size. If you want a fixed font size and size the box to accommodate long messages, short messages leave a ton of dead space after the message (aka between messages). Changing the font to resize is an option, but you end up with huge variances in font size due to large variances in message sizes.

An option is needed to make these message text block/box sizes dynamic (height in this case). In the case of Social Ticker 1, fixed font size, fixed block width, and the block height auto resizes to just big enough to accommodate the text.

This seems like it would additional options in the designer "Text Box Resizing" drop down like "Fixed Font - Adjust box height" and "Fixed Font - Adjust box width". It would probably require a max size setting to keep things from getting out of hand with excessively long text.

Also, in the case of the GT Social Ticker 1 (as it stands), layers and compositions making up the ticker layer would also need to resize with their contents, so this new functionality would need to be applicable to those as well. That adds a whole new layer of complexity for this to be implemented I guess.

the problem is not so much making the textbox dynamic but the restriction of the layer size of the template which is not dynamic in this particular case

Correct - this is kind of what I was alluding to in my last sentence. Not only would code need to be added to make the text box resize, but also compositions / templates that can contain a text box would need to adjust to the size of the dynamically sizing text boxes they contain.

This one would not be a small ask, but a neccessary one IMO. This would also come into play with things like credits, stats lists, etc.

Are you talking about something like this?

https://forums.vmix.com/...18560-Transform-settings

I too want a text box, that will set the text height to a fixed size, but will stretch the text
to fill the box. Not letter space, but stretch like this video shows.
