hi Martin,

I frequently use the desktop capture function to capture powerpoint slides on a remote computer via wifi. I normally do not have any problems but since upgrading to vmix 12 i have two problems:

1. frequently loss of connection
2. drop outs - the screen capture is lagging behind.

I suspect it has something to do with the screen change detection. I notice that if a presenter does not forward a slide for sometime the chance the connection drops out is list. useually the connection is reestablished automatically, but sometimes i miss 1 or 2 slides or changes. similar to the drop out.

is there any change between v11 and v12? could it be possible to add an option to have a minimum connection at all times even if the slide /scree is not changed.

hope you can fix it because it gives a lot of stress recording a presentation and the slides do not progress or drop out.

greetings,
stefan

Hi Stefan,

I will investigate this further after NAB, you can always use vMix Desktop Capture 9 which does not have change detection.

well I think I have found one likely cause and this is overcrowded wifi channels. I did not have any problems before but also noticed that iregularities in the stability of desktop capture over wifi varies over time. and with also people changing rooms where i record thus the signals will be variable. I decided to use a wifi channel tracker and check the usage of the different channels.

i changed my wifi modem to a free channel and i did not experience a loss of connection. after that.

because of increasing wifi traffic in public places and venues, it is therefor recommended to check the room where you record. i frequently record in different busy locations, at symposia and meetings and i use inSSIDer of metageek.net to check the trafic on the various channels.

greetings, stefan

Hello, ..
Currently we are using vMIX 10, because change detection is not implemented there.
We recorde presenters showing PowerPoint presentations over the notwork (desktop capture) the spreaker uses a presenter (logitech R400) to change slides (will be recognized by change detection). If he just continues in the same slide activating bullet by bullet with the presenter, change detection does not send the frames. the slide remains empty in the recording until chaning to the next slide. Only if you move your mouse all the time, the recording works fine.
For that reason, we have not uptated to the curront version.
Of course we can use the old desktopcapture.exe file, but this not very convinient.
Is there any plan to configure the desktop capture with a checkbox? (change detection yes/no)
regars, Hubert
