Can we please have an option to increase the vmixcall audio rate to increase. WebRTC Opus Codec supports up to 510 kb/s - and the current rate is around 30 kb/s. This provides for improved sound quality via the vmix caller.
thanks 2 users thanked ranz for this useful post.

In point of fact, Opus at full bandwidth (48 KHz sampling) needs only 128 kbps to deliver a single channel at real production quality. Beyond 128K is usually only requires for stereo.

Even at 32 kbps, it's capable of very good quality (32 Khz sampling) for voice.

Opus is used by various companies to provide remote voice-talent-to-studio links. Consider Source Connect Now: https://now.source-elements.com/#!/

In my experience, in most cases where people have complained about the bitrate in Opus, it has turned out that local factors were the defining things about the audio quality. Poor microphone. Poor mic placement. Noisy environment, etc.

I´d highly appreciate a higher audio-bitrate for vmix call :-)

All the best from Germany, Jonas

The quality for voice is fine. We are musicians (and other audio uses) - so we need a higher bitrate to get the audio sounding much better. We are using vMix call for live jams and music performances - it has a real potential to grow from here.

It would be great if we could have the option for callers to stream high quality audio via Vmix. I produce music from a studio in Sydney, Australia, and will have to use other services until the quality here improves. Otherwise the services have been running well, and i would recommend Vmix if audio rate was higher for callers.

Perhaps the facilitator of the Live Stream could have the option of lowering the audio rate for other callers while a featured caller is streaming an audio performance?

Kind regards.

+1. Must have!
I use vMix Calls for remote hockey commentig. His voice sounds like from retro-phone in empty bucket.

+1. I sometimes feature musicians as remote guests who play and sing a song. Would be great to have the best audio possible.
